The ACT Government is building a new permanent home for dragon boating at Grevillea Park.

Dragon boating is one of Canberra's most popular water-based sports. In the ACT, it appeals to a growing number of women, as well as people of all ages. A new dragon boat facility will support this growing sport into the future.

The facility will include:

  • boat storage
  • amenities and change rooms
  • a training room
  • event administration space.

Once complete, the new facility will be sub-leased to Dragon Boat ACT (DBACT). This is the governing body for dragon boating in the ACT. DBACT currently has around 600 members, of which approximately 70% are female. They have 10 teams, including 3 school teams.

The new facility will allow DBACT to continue to run its regattas at Grevillea Park. It will also help to increase activity at Lake Burley Griffin's East Basin.

Project benefits

The community will benefit from:

  • the opportunity to experience different sport options
