Community engagement for the design stage of improving the Tuggeranong foreshore, is closed. You can view the progress of this project and follow any future updates on the City Service website.
Public spaces along the Tuggeranong foreshore are being transformed. These communal spaces will welcome all residents, to relax, or be active, together.
The ACT Government recently completed upgrades to revitalise the Tuggeranong Town Centre. This included new walking and bike paths to connect the town centre with the foreshore.
The government has also committed to improve the Tuggeranong foreshore precinct. These works will be from Reed Street South to Athllon Drive. Upgrades include accessible facilities and active spaces for the whole community.
Residents and businesses contributed their ideas to shape the final designs. Four top priorities were identified to create a space the community want to visit. These included:
- replacing the existing Tuggeranong Town Park toilet with new, accessible facilities
- improving shared paths along the foreshore with more places to sit and rest
- upgrading the Tuggeranong Town Park playground with picnic areas and accessible play equipment
- improving signs to find your way around the foreshore.
The community can also expect:
- more walking and bike paths to connect between areas
- improvements to public access and safety.
Project benefits
Benefits from a revitalised Tuggeranong foreshore precinct include:
- an open and accessible place for family and friends to gather
- a beautiful, shared space to relax or be active
- a destination to develop community connection and wellbeing.
