New paths, lights and power poles have improved safety and convenience in Haig Park.

820 metres of new paths have replaced old, unsealed tracks in the park. This includes a new central concrete path providing direct access into Braddon. This path has improved accessibility for all members of the community.

New lighting along the central path has also improved visibility and safety at night.

New permeable paths made from crushed rock connect other sections of the park. These paths are in keeping with the character of Haig Park. They are also designed to encourage water flow to the roots of the heritage trees.

Five new power bollards will provide extra electrical support for community events. This means the Haig Park Village Market and other events will be able to expand and grow.

These improvements are the result of extensive community engagement to revitalise the park.

They are part of the Haig Park Place Plan and Haig Park Experiments Project. These projects won a National Planning Institute of Australia Award in 2021.

They have made the heritage-listed Haig Park a welcoming place for everyone to enjoy.
