New medical imaging equipment has been installed at the Weston Creek Community Health Centre and a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine is on its way to Canberra Hospital.

The ACT Government is expanding health services to support the growing population. Canberrans will have access to the latest medical imaging technology and high-quality, expert health care.

Modern spaces have been built to house the equipment at both locations. Funding for these projects covers the building work and state-of-the-art equipment.

Patient care will be at the centre of these services.

Weston Creek now has an:

  • Ultrasound
  • X-ray and
  • CT scanner

Canberra Hospital has replaced an old CT scanner with a new one, and over the coming months a new 3T MRI scanner will be installed to replace the older MRI machine.

Project benefits

New medical imaging services will benefit the ACT community by:

  • improving access to the best medical equipment
  • reducing patient wait times
  • improving diagnoses of illness
  • providing a safe and supportive service for all members of the community
  • reducing pressure on medical services and staff
  • improving training and support for medical staff.
