Have your say

Community engagement for the design phase of the Casey Community Recreation Park project is closed. You can view the progress of this project and follow any future updates on the Casey Community Recreation Park webpage.

A new park in Casey will create a space for the whole community to play and relax in nature.

Residents shared their ideas to design an area that reflects their priorities. The many options for play and activities will allow visitors to stay longer. Specialised equipment will help people of all ages and abilities feel welcome.

Once complete, this exciting space will attract locals and visitors alike.

The final design shows the community priorities of:

  • accessible toilet facilities
  • shade structures, BBQ and picnic areas
  • play equipment for all abilities
  • emphasis on playing in nature
  • a multi-purpose court for different sports
  • a flying fox and a cricket net
  • grassed areas including an amphitheatre and open play spaces.

Community feedback also showed the importance of protecting the existing natural space. This project will maintain the existing trees and plants into the future.

The new Casey Community Recreation Park will sit within the open space at Plimsoll Drive and Yeend Avenue. It will boost the options for community recreation and relaxation in the area. And add to the modern playgrounds and off-leash dog park already on offer.

Project benefits

Residents and visitors will benefit from:

  • a wide range of well-designed options for rest or play
  • natural open spaces to spend time together
  • facilities and equipment for all ages and abilities
  • improved health and wellbeing.
