The ACT Government is building a new community tennis facility in Gungahlin. This project is being developed in partnership with Tennis Australia and Tennis ACT.

The new facility will be on Horse Park Drive in Amaroo. It represents a considerable investment in new sporting facilities for the Gungahlin region.

Tennis players and visitors can expect:

  • 10 full-sized courts
  • two hot shot courts
  • a hitting wall
  • LED lighting
  • female friendly change rooms
  • a pavilion
  • parking.

Tennis ACT and its affiliated clubs will operate and maintain the facility. The community will be able to hire the new tennis courts.

The new centre will be able to host major tennis events in Canberra. It will also let Tennis ACT deliver more programs to boost interest and participation.

According to Tennis ACT, more than 32,00 people participated in tennis in the 2020-21 financial year.

Project benefits

The community will benefit from:

  • a new sporting facility close to home
  • the opportunity to experience different sport options
  • supported physical activity and wellbeing
  • a welcoming place to connect with people
  • a communal space to share passion, fitness, and friendly competition.
