The ACT Government will roll out four new health centres in South Tuggeranong, Inner South, North Gungahlin and West Belconnen.

They will provide accessible public health care across Canberra's suburbs, close to where people live.

The government has undertaken feasibility studies to determine locations and early design work. South Tuggeranong will be the first to be delivered.

The new facilities are being designed to be flexible spaces that can adapt to suit a range of services. They will complement the existing five community health centres and nurse-led walk-in centres located across Canberra.

The Coombs health centre is already in operation, delivering services for women, youth and children.

The South Tuggeranong health centre will be built in Conder, on the corner of Box Hill Avenue and Heidelberg Street, across from the primary school. Planning and design for the health centre is underway, with construction due to start in 2024.

Early planning works continue for the Inner South and Gungahlin facilities.

Project benefits

  • High quality health care in local regions across Canberra
  • More community-based care to take pressure off hospital services
