North Gungahlin High School

North Gungahlin high school will provide places for up to 800 students. It will provide high-quality general and specialist learning for Years 7 to 10.

The new high school will support families in the fast-growing Gungahlin area. The site is located next to Margaret Hendry School in Taylor.

Construction is underway. Facilities at North Gungahlin high school will be modern, sustainable and accessible. This approach reflects two ACT Government commitments:

• action on climate change
• accessible education for students of all abilities.

Construction will include:

• all-electric facilities
• sustainable materials
• double-glazed windows
• air permeability membranes
• a large solar array.

Modern learning spaces will feature:

• integrated areas for students with specialised needs
• internal access to natural light
• indoor and outdoor learning areas.

North Gungahlin high school will play an important role in community connection. The school responds to the strong cultural significance of the region. It connects to the nearby parks and nature reserves.

The school will also provide accessible community sporting facilities, including:

• double gymnasium with basketball, netball, futsal and volleyball markings
• covered hard courts for basketball and netball
• kickabout spaces for ball sports
• external fitness equipment.

At this early stage, the school's name is its location. The community and stakeholders will help choose the official name.

North Gungahlin High School is set to open its doors for the 2025 school year.
